WHAT WAS THE WORST MASSAGE YOU EVER GAVE?

The worst massage I ever have was easily a hot stone massage I had to do maybe a month after I was licensed. The manager of the spa decided it was okay to book me for it and then gave me a five minute crash course. Suffice it to say the entire session was a disaster. 

WHAT KIND OF CLIENT MAKES YOU REALLY EXCITED TO GIVE A MASSAGE?

I get really excited to give a massage when a client comes in and gives me a long list of complaints about how they’re feeling and their expectations for the massage. I have no problem with the people who simply say they want a massage. But my absolute favorite was when I have to think, applying my education and experience to the client. When I get to explain to them what’s happening and what I’m doing to repair the problem. It’s an immensely satisfying experience. 

WHAT'S ONE THING YOU WISH EVERYONE KNEW BEFORE THEY GOT THEIR FIRST MASSAGE? 

Something I wish everyone knew before their first session is that I’m here to make you feel better. My entire job is to make you feel comfortable, safe, and relaxed. I frequently tell clients “you’re not going to hurt my feelings” because as a client, you don’t need to consider my feelings. Tell me if something is wrong with me or the room because it’s my job to fix that problem. 

MILK OR DARK CHOCOLATE?

White. I have a crippling sweet tooth. 

FINISH THIS SENTENCE: HOROSCOPES ARE.....? 

Irrelevant. I take a great amount (probably too much) of pleasure in denying anyone knowledge of my birthday because of an intense dislike of Astrology. The one person working at Melt who knew my birthday moved across the country and I like it that way. 

STAR WARS OR STAR TREK?

Probably Star Trek. I love both but Star Trek has a much more in-depth exploration of alien societies. Even if that’s due to the medium, it’s still my preference. 

IF IT WERE COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE AND AFFORDABLE, WOULD YOU TRAVEL TO THE MOON?

Yes. But I would say the same for any planetary body in our solar system if it could be done safely. 

WHAT'S SOMETHING THAT YOU FIND TOTALLY FASCINATING? 

That people have an entire library of knowledge in their pockets in the form of a smart phone. Yet they still have disputes lasting entire conversations that could easily be settled with a 10-second google search. I’m fun at parties.
